A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC — a "blank check" firm that raises money to merge with and take a private business public. It was created in 2021 by Patria Investments, a Brazilian alternative asset manager founded in 1988 as Banco Patrimônio, and it aimed to find a Latin American company to bring to the stock market. The firm never completed a deal and was liquidated in 2024, returning funds to its shareholders.
