Provident Acquisition Corp.
A shell company known as a SPAC, Provident Acquisition Corp. raised money through a stock offering in 2021 with the single purpose of buying another business. It found its target in Perfect Corp., a software firm whose augmented-reality tools let shoppers virtually try on makeup and hair colors through apps like YouCam Perfect. Formed in the Cayman Islands and founded in 2015 by Alice Chang, a former CyberLink CEO, Perfect Corp. took the name from its flagship app, which aimed to make selfies look instantly "perfect." The two merged in 2022, and the combined company went public.
