Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings Corp VI
A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, formed to raise money from investors with the goal of merging with a private tech business and taking it public. It was created by a partnership between two investment firms — Social Capital, founded by Chamath Palihapitiya, and Hedosophia, founded by Ian Osborne — whose names were stitched together into one. The company, nicknamed IPOF, was part of a run of alphabetically named SPACs (IPOA, IPOB, IPOC…) that fans called "alphabet soup," and it wound down in 2022 without ever completing a deal.
