Tyco International Plc
A maker of fire-protection and security systems, Tyco International built the brands behind home alarms (ADT), retail anti-theft tags (Sensormatic), and commercial sprinklers and fire detection. Founded in 1960 by Harvard-trained scientist Arthur J. Rosenberg as a small investment firm, it grew through acquisitions into a global conglomerate before merging with Johnson Controls in 2016. The name may echo the Greek word for "fortune" or the astronomer Tycho Brahe.
