Vertical Aerospace Ltd.
A British maker of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, Vertical Aerospace designs the VX4, a pilot-and-four-passenger "air taxi" that lifts off and lands like a helicopter but cruises like a plane, built for short hops over city traffic. It was founded in 2016 by Stephen Fitzpatrick, the entrepreneur behind UK energy firm OVO Energy, who gave the company its name to signal that "the way forward is up." Fitzpatrick had earlier owned a Formula One team, and the aircraft draws on expertise from motorsport, energy, and aerospace.
