A global independent automotive distributor and retailer based in London, Inchcape sells and services vehicles for brands like Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Jaguar Land Rover across dozens of countries. Its roots go back to 1847, when two Scottish merchants set up a trading and shipping firm in Calcutta, India. The modern company gets its name from James Lyle Mackay, who joined that firm in 1874 and later became the 1st Earl of Inchcape—a title he chose after the Inchcape rock in Scotland.
