Breedon Group Plc

A maker of aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and asphalt, Breedon Group supplies crushed rock, sand, gravel, and road-surfacing materials for buildings and infrastructure across Britain, Ireland, and the United States. Its roots trace to quarrying at Breedon on the Hill in Leicestershire from the late 1800s; the modern company took shape in 2008 when Peter Tom, who had earlier founded Aggregate Industries, revived the business. The name is a happy tautology—"Breedon" blends Celtic and Anglo-Saxon words that both mean "hill."
