Melrose Industries Plc
A British aerospace and defense manufacturer that builds structural parts for aircraft — engines, wing structures, fuselages and electrical systems — through its GKN Aerospace arm, whose components fly on many of the world's major airliners and military jets. It was founded in 2003 as an investment vehicle by three engineers who ran a "buy, improve, sell" model of turning around underperforming manufacturers, and it made headlines in 2018 with a hostile takeover of the long-established engineering giant GKN. A fun quirk: it was originally incorporated under a completely different name, Wheelmark plc.
