Barry Callebaut AG
One of the world's largest makers of chocolate and cocoa, Barry Callebaut works behind the scenes, supplying couverture chocolate, callets, and cocoa ingredients to chocolatiers, pastry chefs, bakers, and big food brands rather than selling under its own name. It was born in 1996 from the merger of France's Cacao Barry, founded in 1842 by Englishman Charles Barry, and Belgium's Callebaut, launched in 1911 in Wieze. A fun twist: the Callebaut chocolate factory sits on the site of the family's former brewery, so the same building once turned out beer.
