One of the world's largest oilfield services companies, Weatherford supplies drilling equipment, well cementing, and reservoir data services to oil and gas producers in roughly 75 countries. It began in 1941 as the Weatherford Spring Company, when Texas engineer Jesse Hall Sr. invented the casing centralizer and the first hydraulic power tong to make heavy drill pipe safer to handle. Fun fact: it takes its name from Weatherford, Texas, where it was founded, rather than from any founder.
