Wheelock & Co Ltd
A Hong Kong property group that builds homes and runs big shopping destinations, including Harbour City and Times Square. It began in 1857 when Canadian sea captain Thomas Reed Wheelock started a tug-and-lighter business in Shanghai; after World War II it moved to Hong Kong and shifted from shipping to property. Its name echoes that founder, whose firm merged with Marden and Company in 1932 to form Wheelock Marden, later shortened to Wheelock.
