One of the world's largest makers of automotive lighting, Koito builds the headlamps, fog lamps, and rear lights found on cars from many global automakers, plus aircraft parts and railway equipment. It began in 1915 as the Genrokurō Koito Shop in Tokyo, where founder Genrokurō Koito sold Fresnel lenses for railway signals—named after himself—before moving into vehicle lamps in the 1930s. Fittingly, its first products helped trains see, and today it still lights the way for everything from rail to road.
