Shoei Co Ltd
A maker of motorcycle helmets, Shoei crafts the protective headgear worn by riders from weekend commuters to MotoGP racers, with popular lines like the track-focused X-Series and the sport-touring GT-Air. Founder Eitaro Kamata started in 1954 making construction safety helmets, then launched the company in Tokyo in 1959 after connecting with Honda's Soichiro Honda. The name "Shoei" blends "Sho" from the Showa era and "ei" from the founder's first name, Eitaro.
