A maker of titanium sponge and related products, Osaka Titanium Technologies is one of the world's largest producers of the raw material that becomes titanium metal for aerospace, medical, and industrial uses. Founded in 1937 as Osaka Special Steel Manufacturing, the company became the first in Japan to industrialize titanium sponge production in 1952, renaming itself Osaka Titanium. After years under the Sumitomo umbrella, it reclaimed its Osaka identity in 2007.
