Softbank Group Corp
A Japanese technology investment holding company, SoftBank Group invests in and owns stakes in some of the world's biggest tech names — it owns semiconductor designer Arm and runs the Vision Fund, one of the largest tech investment funds on the planet, alongside a Japanese telecom arm. Founder Masayoshi Son started it in 1981 as a software distributor, naming the firm "SoftBank" to blend "software" with "bank." On day one he had just two employees, and legend has it that when he stood on a wooden crate to pitch his grand vision for the PC industry, both quit within weeks.
