Taiheiyo Cement Corp

Japan's largest cement maker, Taiheiyo Cement produces cement, ready-mixed concrete and other building materials used in roads, bridges and skyscrapers across Japan and the Pacific Rim. Born in 1998 from the merger of Chichibu Onoda Cement and Nihon Cement, its roots trace to 1881, when Kasai Junpachi gathered 38 former samurai to found Onoda Cement—earning it the nickname "the samurai company." Today its hot kilns also burn waste plastics and sludge as fuel, turning trash into building materials.
