A Japanese maker of precision motion-control gear, Nabtesco builds the cycloidal RV reduction gears that power the joints of industrial robots, along with the automatic doors, brakes, and screen gates used on trains worldwide. It was born in 2003 from the merger of NABCO (founded 1925 as Nippon Air Brake) and Teijin Seiki, and its name stitches together the two founders' names. Fun fact: its doors open and close on a large share of the trains running in Japan, including the famous Shinkansen.
