Hoshizaki Corporation

A Japanese maker of commercial ice machines, refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers that keep restaurants, hotels, and convenience stores running worldwide, Hoshizaki is one of the largest names in food-service equipment. It was founded in Nagoya in 1947 by Shigetoshi Sakamoto, who started with electrical parts before launching its first automatic ice machine in 1965 and expanding to America in 1981. Fun fact: its cheerful penguin logo was adopted because back in the 1960s few Japanese restaurants knew what an ice machine was, so the bird became a friendly way to introduce the idea.
