A Japanese maker of eye drops, skincare, and everyday health products, Rohto creates the well-known Rohto eye drops along with skincare brands like Hada Labo, Melano CC, and Skin Aqua. It began in 1899 as a small Osaka pharmacy selling a stomach medicine, and got its name when an ophthalmologist who developed its first eye drops in 1909 honored his German mentor, Professor August von Rothmund. Rohto is so big in eye care that Guinness World Records once certified it as the largest over-the-counter eye care brand in the world.
