Subsea 7 SA

A maker of underwater pipelines and offshore infrastructure for the energy industry, Subsea 7 designs, builds, and installs the pipes and cables that connect seabed oil-and-gas wells to platforms above the waves. The name dates to 2002, when two offshore firms, DSND Subsea and Halliburton Subsea, joined forces; the company later merged with rival Acergy in 2011 and kept the Subsea 7 name. A fun quirk: it grew out of more than two dozen smaller companies, many tracing back to the 1950s, so it is really a patchwork of old offshore pioneers.
