Mobileye NV
A maker of computer-vision chips and software that help cars see the road, Mobileye's EyeQ processors and driver-assistance systems are built into tens of millions of vehicles from automakers worldwide. Founded in 1999 in Jerusalem by computer-vision professor Amnon Shashua and entrepreneur Ziv Aviram, the company proved that a single camera and clever algorithms could do the work of pricey sensor arrays. The name is a portmanteau of "mobile eye" — fitting for a company whose technology literally gives cars eyes.
