A global consumer internet group and one of the world's largest technology investors, Prosus builds and backs digital businesses across food delivery, payments, and online marketplaces — its brands include the food-delivery platforms iFood and Swiggy and the payment company PayU. The Amsterdam-based company was created in 2019 when the South African media giant Naspers spun off its international internet assets, including its big stake in the Chinese tech firm Tencent. Its name comes from the Latin word for "forwards."
