A Swedish investment company that acts as a long-term, active owner of major businesses, holding large stakes in companies such as ABB, AstraZeneca, and Atlas Copco. It was founded in 1916 when the Wallenberg family spun off its bank's shareholdings into a separate company after new Swedish rules made it hard for banks to own industrial stocks — its literal name simply means "investor." The family's banking roots stretch back to 1856, and Investor remains their flagship.
