Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. II

A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, formed in 2021 to raise money from investors and merge with a private company to take it public. It focused on businesses tied to sustainability and energy transition, and in late 2021 it combined with Embark Technology, a San Francisco startup building self-driving software for long-haul semi-trucks, with the combined company trading on the Nasdaq. The fun detail: Embark's founders first met as engineering students at the University of Waterloo, where they built an autonomous golf cart before pivoting to autonomous trucking.
