Swedish Match Ab (publ)
A Stockholm-based maker of smokeless tobacco and nicotine products, Swedish Match is best known for Zyn nicotine pouches, General snus, and its legacy matchsticks. Its roots reach back to 1844, when Swedish chemist Gustaf Erik Pasch invented the safer "safety match," and to the 1917 consolidation by Ivar Kreuger, the "Match King," who later gave the firm its simpler English name in 1980 so it wouldn't need translating worldwide. Fun fact: the company began making matches, a business that still inspired its name long after tobacco took over.
