Bajaj Finance Limited
An Indian non-banking financial company that lends money for everything from two-wheelers and home appliances to personal and small-business loans, often through its signature EMI card that lets shoppers pay in installments at the checkout counter. It began in 1987 as Bajaj Auto Finance, set up to help people buy Bajaj scooters and motorcycles, before growing into one of the country's largest consumer lenders. The Bajaj name comes from Jamnalal Bajaj, a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi who founded the group in 1926.
