Bg Medicine Inc

A maker of biomarker-based blood tests for heart disease, BG Medicine developed tools to help doctors manage heart-failure patients and assess cardiac risk. Founded in 2000 by systems-biology pioneer Jan van der Greef under the name Beyond Genomics, the company later shortened its name to BG Medicine. Its Galectin-3 test measures a protein tied to stiffening of the heart muscle and was cleared by U.S. regulators in 2010.
