Big Lots Inc

A US closeout retailer that fills its shelves with overstock, discontinued, and bargain-priced goods for budget-conscious shoppers. Founded in 1967 in Columbus, Ohio, by Sol Shenk, it started as Consolidated Stores, then opened its first "Odd Lots" closeout store in 1982. A trademark clash with another "Odd Lots" retailer forced it to rebrand its newer stores "Big & Small Lots," which shoppers soon shortened to Big Lots.
