Blackrock Capital Investment Corporation
A business development company that lent money to mid-sized businesses, offering everything from senior secured debt to subordinated loans and equity. It was founded in 2005 as BlackRock Kelso Capital, a joint venture between asset manager BlackRock and private equity firm Kelso & Company, and dropped "Kelso" from its name in 2015. In 2024 the company merged with its sibling BlackRock TCP Capital Corp, and former investors received shares in the combined firm.
