A maker of the ultra-pure crystal wafers—indium phosphide, gallium arsenide, and germanium—that sit at the heart of data-center, AI, 5G, and laser devices, made in China and sold worldwide. Founded in 1986 in California, it pioneered the "VGF" crystal-growth technique that yields large, low-defect wafers. Its name is short for "American Xtal Technology," where "Xtal" is industry slang for crystal.
