Perceptron, Inc.
A maker of 3D scanning and robot-guidance systems that help auto plants measure parts and guide assembly robots with laser precision. Founded in 1981 by General Motors Institute graduates and based in Plymouth, Michigan, it was acquired by Atlas Copco in 2020. Its name comes from the perceptron, the pioneering neural network invented by Frank Rosenblatt in 1957, which many call the seed of modern artificial intelligence.
