Leapfrog Enterprises, Inc.

A maker of educational toys and tablets for children, LeapFrog is the company behind the LeapPad learning tablets and the Leapster handheld games, now owned by VTech. It began when corporate attorney Michael Wood, trying to help his young son learn to read, built a phonics-teaching device called the Phonics Desk and launched the company in 1995. The name nods to the playground game and to children "leaping" ahead in their learning, with a frog as its mascot.
