Symmetry Medical Inc.
A maker of surgical instruments, orthopedic implants, and sterilization cases and trays, built as a contract manufacturer for orthopedic giants like Zimmer, Johnson & Johnson, and Smith & Nephew. Founded in 1976, it grew through deals such as the 2003 merger with Mettis Orthopaedic Group. Its name nods to "symmetry," the Greek idea of balanced, proportionate human anatomy. In 2014 the business split, spinning off its instrument arm as Symmetry Surgical.
