Daifuku Co Ltd
A maker of automated material-handling systems, Daifuku builds the conveyors and warehouse robots that move goods through factories and airports — its baggage systems serve hundreds of airports worldwide. Founded in Osaka in 1937 as Sakaguchi Machine Works, the name comes from the first characters of Osaka and its second plant city, Fukuchiyama — together they spell the Japanese word for 'good fortune.' It also makes car wash machines, including Japan's first microcomputer-controlled one in 1981.
