ROCKET INTERNET SE

A Berlin-based "startup factory" that builds and grows internet companies rather than just funding them. Founded in 2007 by brothers Marc, Oliver, and Alexander Samwer, Rocket Internet spots online business models that already work in one country—like e-commerce, food delivery, or marketplaces—and rapidly clones them in markets where they don't exist yet. It helped launch well-known names such as Zalando, Delivery Hero, and HelloFresh. The name plays on the founders' signature speed: they aim to take a business from idea to global scale fast, once launching a venture in as little as 30 days. The same trio earlier sold a German eBay copy called Alando to eBay within about 100 days of starting it.
