Nikon Corp
A Japanese maker of cameras, lenses, and precision optics, Nikon is best known for its Nikon and Nikkor camera gear used by photographers worldwide, along with binoculars, microscopes, and the lithography machines that help print computer chips. Founded in 1917 as Nippon Kogaku (Japan Optical), the company took its name from its first camera, the 1946 Nikon, which combined the first syllables of its original name. Fun fact: the famous Nikkor lens brand comes from "Nikko," an abbreviation of Nippon Kogaku.
