Bluegreen Vacations Holding Corporation
A maker of vacation-ownership resorts, Bluegreen Vacations runs dozens of destination resorts across the United States and sells "vacation ownership" memberships that let families trade points for stays at its own properties and thousands of partner resorts worldwide. It began in 1966 as Patten Realty Corporation, founded by Harry S. Patten, who started the land-sales firm in Stamford, Vermont, before pivoting to resorts and renaming the company "Bluegreen" in 1996. Fun fact: before founding the business, Patten honed his sales skills selling vacuum cleaners while studying psychology at the University of New Hampshire.
