Niu Technologies
A maker of smart electric two-wheelers, Niu designs and sells scooters, mopeds, e-bikes, and kick-scooters that riders control through a connected app. Founded in Beijing in 2014, the company takes its name from the Chinese word for "buffalo" — a nod to hard work, since founder Li Yinan noted that "our ancestors worked on the backs of buffaloes" — and in modern slang the same word means "awesome."
