Hyperfine, Inc.
A maker of the Swoop, the world's first FDA-cleared portable MRI system for the brain, Hyperfine wheels its ultra-low-field scanner to a patient's bedside in ICUs, emergency rooms, and operating rooms. Founded in 2014 by serial inventor Jonathan Rothberg inside his 4Catalyzer incubator, the company takes its name from the "hyperfine structure" of physics that underpins MRI. Unlike traditional scanners, the Swoop plugs into a standard wall outlet, and its open design lets family stay beside the patient during a scan.
