A builder and operator of wireless networks in big, crowded places, Boingo keeps people and devices connected at airports, stadiums, and military bases through Wi-Fi hotspots, distributed antenna systems, and small cells. It was founded in 2001 by Sky Dayton, the co-founder of the early internet provider EarthLink, who wanted Wi-Fi to be as easy to reach as the air we breathe. The playful name is often mistaken for the 1980s band Oingo Boingo, though the two are entirely unrelated, and the company was taken private in 2021.
