Phinergy Ltd
An Israeli clean-energy company that builds metal-air batteries, which generate electricity by reacting aluminum or zinc with oxygen drawn from the surrounding air. Its patented air-electrode lets the battery "breathe," so it stays light and packs a lot of energy. Founded in 2008 by brothers Aviv and Dekel Tzidon from research at Bar-Ilan University, the company later teamed up with Alcoa to use aluminum-air cells as a range extender for electric vehicles.
