Five Prime Therapeutics, Inc.

A biotechnology company that discovered and developed protein-based medicines and antibodies to treat cancer and inflammatory diseases. Founded in 2001 by physician-scientist Lewis "Rusty" Williams, it took its name from the "five prime" end of a DNA or RNA molecule, the starting point for genetic processes. Its lead drug, bemarituzumab, targets a protein linked to gastric cancer, and the company was acquired by Amgen in 2021.
