Foundation Medicine, Inc.
A maker of genomic tests that help doctors personalize cancer treatment, Foundation Medicine analyzes hundreds of cancer-related genes in a single tumor sample to find the mutations driving a patient's disease. Its flagship test, FoundationOne, was named to signal a "one-stop" comprehensive look at a tumor's genetics. Founded in 2010 by scientists from the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, the company chose its name to reflect a mission to build a new "foundation" for cancer care, and it became part of the Roche Group in 2018.
