Toray Industries Inc
A Japanese maker of advanced materials, Toray produces carbon fiber, nylon, polyester, films and resins used everywhere from airplane bodies (including the Boeing 787) and car parts to clothing and sports gear like golf shafts and bicycle frames. Founded in 1926 as Toyo Rayon to help Japan make its own clothing, its name blends "Toyo" and "Rayon." Fun fact: the carbon fiber in elite bicycles is the same aerospace-grade material that helps keep aircraft sound at cruising altitude.
