A medical device maker in Israel that freezes tumors instead of cutting them out. Its ProSense system uses a thin probe to pump liquid nitrogen into breast tumors, forming an "ice ball" that destroys the tissue, which the body later reabsorbs — all done in a doctor's office. Founded in 2006 as Arbel Medical, the company renamed itself IceCure, a nod to its icy treatment, and lives by the motto "freezing cancer, not their lives."
