A maker of identity and access management software, Ping Identity helps businesses confirm who people are before letting them in. Its tools, used by enterprises and a large share of the Fortune 100, cover single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and directory services for employees, customers, and partners. Founded in 2002 in Denver by Andre Durand and Bryan Field-Elliot, the company named itself after the networking "ping" that checks if a device is reachable. Durand was inspired by the famous cartoon caption "On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog," realizing secure business couldn't happen until identity was verified.
