Viper Energy, Inc.
A mineral-royalty company that owns subsurface rights across the Permian Basin of West Texas, collecting a share of the oil, gas, and natural-gas-liquids revenue whenever operators drill on its acreage — without paying any of the drilling or operating costs. It was spun off by Diamondback Energy in 2013/2014, and its name carries on the parent's snake-themed branding: Diamondback evokes the rattlesnake of West Texas, while Viper is another venomous snake, fitting for an energy firm rooted in the same rugged country. It converted from a limited partnership to a corporation in 2024.
