Retail Value Inc.

A real estate investment trust created in 2018 as a spinoff from the shopping-center owner DDR Corp. (now SITE Centers), Retail Value Inc. was built for one job: to sell off its collection of retail shopping centers across the continental United States and Puerto Rico and return the proceeds to shareholders. Its name is a literal description of that mission—"realizing value" from the properties. The company kept no employees of its own, instead being managed by affiliates of its former parent, and it wrapped up by selling its remaining Puerto Rico shopping centers in 2021.
