South Jersey Industries Inc

A natural gas utility holding company that pipes gas to homes and businesses across New Jersey, mostly through its South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas brands. Its roots reach back to 1873, when Philadelphia businessmen founded the Atlantic City Gas & Water Company to light the seaside city with coal gas. In 1947 that utility renamed itself South Jersey Gas to reflect its widening service area, and in 1969 the parent holding company was formed under today's name.
