US Ecology, Inc.
A waste-management company that treats, recycles, and disposes of hazardous, non-hazardous, and radioactive waste for government agencies, nuclear plants, hospitals, and manufacturers. It traces its roots to 1952 as Nuclear Engineering Co., and in 1984 it was spun off from Teledyne Inc. to become American Ecology Corporation, operating under the US Ecology name. Its Beatty, Nevada site, opened in 1962, was the first federally licensed commercial low-level radioactive waste dump in the United States.
